Position Overview:

Leidos | Gibbs and Cox is in search of a Marine Electrical Systems Engineer to contribute to various projects.

The selected candidate will collaborate with our engineering and production teams to design and implement innovative solutions for complex defense-related challenges.

This role will report to the Electrical Engineering Department Manager and will work closely with Program Managers across multiple contracts.

While local candidates are preferred for onsite work, remote candidates will also be considered.


Key Responsibilities:

The essential duties include:

  • Conducting calculations and applying electrical engineering principles to resolve technical challenges during the design and engineering phases of United States Coast Guard (USCG) vessels and other marine crafts.
  • Communicating technical concepts effectively to clients.
  • Performing quality assurance evaluations of straightforward analyses, calculations, and schematics.
  • Designing electric and electronic systems, focusing on power generation, distribution, and centralized machinery monitoring and control.
  • Utilizing engineering knowledge to develop and assess moderately complex technical reports related to C5I systems on USCG vessels.
  • Reviewing and analyzing the impact of new or modified electronic systems on overall performance.
  • Evaluating system design specifications, test requirements, and engineering changes.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • B.S. Degree or higher in Engineering, Technical, or Marine-related fields from an ABET accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 2 years of documented experience in integrating C5I systems in categories such as Cybersecurity, Command and Control, Navigation, and Sensors.
  • Experience in developing and integrating shipboard C5I systems, with a focus on affordable and maintainable designs.
  • Meets Department of Defense IAT Level II Baseline Certification Requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Technical proficiency in electrical engineering disciplines.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with management and peers.
  • Proficient in standard electrical system design and analysis.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred:

  • Experience with shipyard production systems and electrical power systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software.
  • Knowledge of MIL Standards and Specifications.
  • Experience with Department of Defense or Department of Homeland Security shipbuilding programs.

Compensation:

The pay range for this position is between $65,000 and $117,500. This range serves as a general guideline and is not a guarantee of compensation.
