Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Safety Specialist to join our team at Delphinus Engineering, Inc., Marine Services Division. The successful candidate will support our expanding Ship Repair Operations in Bremerton, WA, and will be responsible for conducting safety inspections, monitoring compliance with safety rules, and assisting On-Site Supervisors with the implementation and enforcement of safety policy and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate worksites to identify job hazards and establish appropriate controls to mitigate occupational safety and health risks.
  • Coordinate with site personnel to address and enforce compliance with company safety policy, contract safety requirements, and state and federal regulatory compliance issues.
  • Conduct accident investigations, analyze results, and present findings to recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and conduct safety and health training programs for various worksites.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections onboard ships and at other worksites.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent, with a minimum of 4 years of experience working as a safety professional in the shipyard/ship repair work environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA 1910 & 1915 Standards.
  • Knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items.
  • Basic computer skills for writing reports and effective communication.
  • Working knowledge of technical equipment for noise monitoring, paint sampling, and air monitoring.
  • Active secret security clearance or ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including moving freely onboard ships, traversing tight passageways, and lifting equipment.
