Job Summary

Cameron County is seeking a skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team in the Infirmary. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to inmates in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient health and provide routine nursing care, including vital sign checks and medication administration.
  • Interview patients to obtain health history and follow nursing protocols as directed by medical staff.
  • Perform daily TB screening tests and transmit abnormal readings to physicians.
  • Administer medication via oral or injection according to protocols and follow infection control measures.
  • Prepare clinic for physicians or nurse practitioners and maintain medical supply stock.
  • Establish and maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and files.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED and one year of vocational nursing school.
  • Current state of Texas license in vocational nursing and CPR certification.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
