About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Frontend Engineer to join our team at American Express. As a key member of our Frontend Engineering team, you will play a crucial role in crafting exceptional user experiences for our products. Your expertise in React, Redux, and modern frontend frameworks will enable you to design, develop, and deploy scalable and robust software applications.

Responsibilities
  • Hands-on architecture, design, and development of systems, ensuring seamless integration with backend services.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate design wireframes into efficient, responsive code.
  • Create reusable front-end components.
  • Work with frontend and backend teams to ensure seamless integration of components.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable and robust software applications.
  • Implement and maintain APIs, connecting frontend and backend functionalities.
  • Participate in code reviews, maintain code quality, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Stay updated on emerging frontend technologies and share insights within the team.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks (React, NextJS).
  • 5+ years of experience with REACT/Redux.
  • 4+ Expertise with integrating RESTful APIs.
  • Experience in Debugging, Trace and fixing End to End issues.
  • Strong understanding of web performance, cross-browser compatibility, and responsive design.
  • Deep understanding of state management, hooks, and component lifecycle.
  • Solid understanding of asynchronous programming and RESTful API integration.
  • Knowledge of databases, API design, and server-side architecture.
  • Experience with version control systems, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for delivering high-quality applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of performance optimization techniques.
  • Experience with Amex's internal tools and frameworks such as OneApp, a plus.
  • Familiarity with containerization (e.g. Docker) and orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes).
  • Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, etc.).
  • Good understanding of microservices architecture.
