Role of a Coding Specialist
As a Coding Specialist, you will be integral to advancing the healing mission of Deaconess.

Position Overview
This role entails the precise and timely coding of professional and/or hospital charges/claims by extracting information from electronic medical records to ensure compliant claim submissions. You will provide educational feedback to healthcare providers based on audited batches to maintain adherence to coding and billing standards set by payors. Additionally, you will keep the Supervisor and Manager updated on daily progress and any issues related to coding or provider interactions. This position also involves gathering information for follow-up staff to address outstanding claims or charge recording.

Qualifications and Experience
A High School Diploma or GED is required, with a Bachelor's degree preferred. A minimum of five years of experience in professional billing and coding is essential. Candidates must possess a coding background and successfully pass internal assessments to qualify for this position.

Certifications and Licenses
Candidates must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for training purposes.
Required certifications include Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Associate (CCA).
