About the Role

Banner Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team in Gilbert, Arizona. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Operating Room department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation and Setup: Prepare for surgical procedures by pulling the necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring they are in good working order, and reviewing case carts for correct instruments and supplies.
  • Instrument Passing and Tissue Retraction: Anticipate the surgeon's needs, pass instruments, and retract tissue during surgical procedures.
  • Aseptic Technique and Universal Precautions: Demonstrate aseptic technique and universal precautions throughout the procedure, disposing of sharps and trash, and placing used supplies in the case cart for processing.
  • Counting and Cleaning: Participate in counting of sharps, instruments, and sponges, and prepare instruments for cleaning following each case.
  • Administrative Support: Provide business support to the department, including assigned administrative tasks.
  • Training and Orientation: Participate in or lead the training and orientation of surgical technology staff and students, as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification: High school diploma/GED and current basic life support certification. Where applicable, must be registered with the State Regulatory Agency.
  • Manual Dexterity and Professional Decorum: The position requires manual dexterity and the ability to maintain professional decorum in highly stressful emergent situations.
  • Organizational and Conscientious: The position requires the ability to be conscientious, organized, and orderly, and the ability to respond quickly to the needs of the surgeon and patient.
