Job Overview

The Cultural Heritage Facility Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the upkeep and restoration of all historically significant properties within the Aramark portfolio. This role involves leading skilled tradespeople, delegating daily responsibilities, and providing training on safe and compliant work practices. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in historic preservation, restoration, and maintenance, along with the ability to instruct on various phases of construction and upkeep.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Acting as the primary authority on the preservation of culturally and historically significant facilities.
  • Managing daily operations of preservation staff and trades, ensuring excellence in the Center of Excellence.
  • Formulating preservation strategies and assessing the current conditions of historic structures to guide project teams on restoration scope, processes, timelines, and costs.
  • Creating detailed schedules for materials, budgets, and methodologies to fulfill specific restoration project requirements.
  • Developing design documentation for restoration, repair, and maintenance projects pertaining to historical structures.
  • Drafting project statements and supporting documentation in accordance with National Park Service standards.
  • Providing training and insights on best practices in historical preservation to the preservation team and property management staff.
  • Conducting research and soliciting bids from contractors for historical preservation projects as necessary.
  • Collaborating with historical architects and contractors to ensure compliance and successful completion of restoration projects.
  • Maintaining records as mandated by federal, state, and public land agencies.
  • Adhering to all company policies, including Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Programs.
  • Working additional shifts and hours as needed.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Departmental Duties
  • Overseeing the financial operations of the department, ensuring compliance with financial guidelines and achievement of operational goals.
  • Managing budgets, expenses, and maintenance logs while ordering supplies according to the established budget.
  • Fostering a positive work environment based on trust, open communication, and teamwork.
  • Identifying departmental challenges and collaborating with management to resolve them.
  • Implementing National Park Service and company guidelines for the preservation of historic assets.
  • Evaluating and procuring low VOC content materials.
  • Operating maintenance vehicles on and off-site.
  • Coordinating schedules related to projects, workloads, personnel, and larger renovation efforts.
Safety Duties
  • Monitoring hazardous materials and ensuring proper disposal of waste.
  • Assisting in emergency planning and spill prevention efforts, with thorough knowledge of emergency systems and procedures.
  • Utilizing fire safety equipment as required.
Communication Duties
  • Clearly communicating expectations to team members.
  • Keeping team members informed about relevant updates from other departments.
  • Collaborating with other departments and attending meetings to provide updates and address issues.
Customer Service Duties
  • Ensuring exceptional service for all internal and external customers.
  • Promoting a customer service-oriented mindset within the department.
  • Addressing customer complaints professionally.
Supervisory Duties
  • Managing team members, creating work schedules, and training employees on departmental standards and safety procedures.
  • Mentoring staff to enhance their skills.
  • Participating in the hiring process for vacant positions, including evaluating applications and conducting interviews.
  • Enforcing departmental standards and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, including uniform and grooming standards.
  • Verifying payroll for department personnel.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Understanding and enforcing all company policies, including Environmental, Health, Compliance, and Safety Management Programs.
  • Assisting in other departments or performing assigned duties as needed.
Qualifications

Candidates must possess at least a high school diploma or G.E.D. A Bachelor’s Degree in architecture, architectural history, or historic preservation, along with one year of experience assessing historic buildings, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Knowledge of the National Park Service HPTC is desirable but not mandatory. Candidates should be adept at evaluating historic structures and possess excellent carpentry skills. Familiarity with construction materials and tools, as well as experience working with the National Park Service and SHPO, is advantageous. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively and understand conversations.
  • Capability to stand and walk on various surfaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders frequently.
  • Physical dexterity to use hand and power tools.
  • Capacity to lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently and 70 lbs occasionally.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle safely.
  • Willingness to work in various environmental conditions.
