Radiology Technologist Medical Assistant PRN

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist/Medical Assistant to join our team at Intermountain Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and assisting with radiologic procedures.
Responsibilities- Obtain and record patient information, including vital signs, medical history, and chief complaint.
- Demonstrate knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
- May be required to draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Perform routine tests, including EKGs, hearing, and vision screens, as requested by providers.
- Schedule patients for diagnostic testing and follow up as necessary.
- Communicate test results to patients and establish a plan of care via phone or mail, as directed by providers.
- Document patient plans of care, tests, and examination results in the medical record, as directed by providers.
- Prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment; stock patient exam rooms while maintaining cleanliness and organization.
- Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration.
- Ensure safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.
- Perform clinical diagnostic x-rays and prepare completed studies for provider review.
- Perform all required processor and equipment maintenance and quality control processes.
- Prepare patients for radiologic procedures and protect patients, self, and other staff from radiation hazards.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current/valid registration by the American Registry of Radiological Technology (ARRT).
- Current Full Scope certification and State Licensure.
- Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire (with prior approval).
- Minimum of 3 months of previous experience within a healthcare setting.
- Successful completion of initial MA onboarding program within 90 days, annual skills fair, and in-services for site-specific tasks.
- Associates degree from an accredited school of radiologic technology, preferred.
- At least 2 years of clinical experience in radiologic technology, preferred.
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.
Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.
Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).
May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
