Senior Sonographer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Sonographer to join our team at Boston Children's Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine and complex ultrasound examinations, reviewing and evaluating requisitions, and selecting appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and complex ultrasound examinations as prescribed by a physician.
- Review and evaluate requisitions for ultrasound imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs for routine examinations.
- Select appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.
- Assess patients' and parents' physical and emotional status and ability to respond to instructions and develop a plan for adjusting to patients' specific needs.
- Follow the QC/Data Integrity Workflow process.
- Practice High Reliability Communication techniques.
- Patient/Family/Team Relations:
- Respond to the uniqueness and clinical condition of the patient.
- Create a supportive environment for the patient and the family.
- Promote a positive work environment in compliance with ETU.
- Equipment:
- Identify and report on equipment malfunctions.
- Assist in patient scheduling and facilitate efficient workflow within the ultrasound area (board runner).
- Investigate and resolve technical and scheduling issues and perform designated quality assurance functions.
- Provide instruction on performing ultrasound procedures for trainees and fellows.
- Serve as a resource and respond to requests for information or assistance.
- General:
- Participate in departmental and hospital meetings.
- Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Comply with ETU.
- Registered by the ARDMS.
- Must meet, successfully complete, and maintain the ARDMS certification and registration.
- BLS certification.
- Associates degree in Medical Sonography.
- 3 years of experience as a Sonographer.
The Senior Sonographer is expected to practice the Boston Children's Hospital 6 Core Values: excellence, innovation, communication, respect, teamwork, and accountability.
Furthers professional education and maintains knowledge of current regulations and standards, policies, and procedures.
Takes an active role in research projects involving ultrasound.
