Environmental Scientist Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Scientist to join our team at Brown and Caldwell. As an Environmental Scientist, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and developing strategies to minimize environmental impacts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct field investigations and inspections to identify environmental hazards and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare technical reports and memoranda to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other team members to develop and implement environmental plans and strategies.
  • Manage and execute work on compliance and permitting for industrial, commercial, and retail facilities.
  • Perform work in a team environment or work independently with multiple project budgets and deadlines simultaneously.
Requirements:
  • Minimum two years of professional or academic experience in the ecological and water resources field.
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in natural resources, environmental science, biology, ecology, or related science.
  • Working knowledge of aquatic systems for physical and biological assessments or investigations.
  • Excellent technical writing and communications skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Project management skills including attention to health and safety; program delivery strategy development and execution by collaborating with a team of project managers and staff; financial metrics tracking; and implementation of QA/QC.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Working knowledge of erosion and sediment control permits and best management practices (BMPs).
  • Proficiency with GPS technology or other mobile data collection (Trimble, GNSS Receivers, tablets, ArcMap, etc.) preferred.
