Your Role
In this role, you will serve as the primary liaison between FAS and the executive and legislative branches of government. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to advance FAS's policy priorities and build relationships with key stakeholders. This includes cultivating partnerships, advocating for policy change, and collaborating with internal teams to develop messaging and communications plans. As a senior-level professional, you will work closely with our leadership team to drive impact and advance FAS's mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive government affairs strategies to advance FAS's policy priorities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including lawmakers, regulators, industry leaders, and advocacy groups.
  • Cultivate partnerships and coalitions to support policy initiatives.
  • Advocate for policy change through effective communication, lobbying, and issue education.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop messaging, communications plans, and issue briefs.

Requirements
  • Mastery of key aspects of the policy entrepreneurship toolkit, including finding creative pathways to shepherd sound policy ideas to implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement an overarching government affairs strategy focused on impact, along with key tactics and measures of success.
  • Proven ability to break down silos and build connectivity with people across teams to work together around a common goal.
  • Strong network across the executive and legislative branches of government and able to leverage their network to cultivate meaningful partnerships for policy solutions.
  • A strong understanding of the federal policy landscape, particularly in areas related to emerging technology, science policy, and clean energy.
