Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Vice President will spearhead the formulation and implementation of the underwriting strategy for AIG's Group Captive offerings, ensuring profitable and sustainable operations. Responsibilities include:
- Managing complex referrals from underwriters that surpass underwriting authority within the Group Captive casualty portfolio.
- Exhibiting strong leadership in cross-departmental teams to guarantee high standards of underwriting, appropriate pricing, and compliance with regulations.
- Building collaborative partnerships with teams in Actuarial, Finance, Operations, Claims, and Distribution to deliver tailored and innovative solutions to captive intermediaries and insured parties.
- Providing mentorship, training, and skill development for underwriters and professional staff.
- Coordinating with the Chief Underwriting Officer's office to secure approvals for risks exceeding delegated authority.
- Evaluating business processes and analytics to guide necessary underwriting actions.
- Developing and refining the risk appetite for Group Captives in collaboration with the Captive Solutions management team.
- Leading the adoption of underwriting best practices and guidelines to ensure pricing adequacy and alignment with risk appetite.
- Ensuring adherence to all underwriting directives and compliance protocols.
- Overseeing the daily operations of a significant captive program.
- Collaborating closely with Operations, IT, and Actuarial teams to ensure systems are appropriately designed for the Group Captive business unit.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in Commercial Casualty Insurance, particularly in alternative risk or captive business.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate and sustain strong professional relationships.
- Extensive underwriting experience in US Casualty lines, including Workers Compensation, Auto Liability, and General Liability, across various risk sizes.
- A robust understanding of different program structures, including Guaranteed Cost, Deductibles, Captives, and Self-Insured Retentions.
- A proven track record in casualty underwriting with at least a decade of senior underwriting and portfolio management experience.
- Strong knowledge of optimizing underwriting profitability through sound decision-making and risk selection.
- Willingness to travel as required.
