About the Role

This position is available within FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.


The SCADA Commissioning Engineer plays a vital role at FirstEnergy's Transmission Control Center, collaborating with a team of analysts and engineers to support the Energy Management System (EMS). This system is essential for real-time monitoring and control of FirstEnergy's transmission system assets, operating continuously, 24/7.


Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee engineering and commissioning tasks in collaboration with various teams across FirstEnergy involved in the SCADA implementation process.

- Conduct resource scheduling, point-to-point checkouts, troubleshooting, inventory management, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards (including change control, configuration management, and password updates).

- Issue as-left settings and provide second-level field support during commissioning activities. - Manage timelines and coordinate modifications in accordance with established departmental protocols. - Supervise the lifecycle of SCADA assets, including the development and coordination of maintenance programs for Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) and related equipment. - Collaborate with team members to identify, assess, prioritize, and execute enhancements aligned with business needs.

- Cultivate a comprehensive understanding of processes within the FirstEnergy Transmission Operations sector, staying informed about advancements in the electric utility industry and effectively communicating within the business context.


Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited institution is mandatory.

Alternative qualifications include:
(1) a Professional Engineer's (PE) License (2) a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field (non-ABET) plus an advanced degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. - Willingness to travel to various company locations, work flexible hours, and be available for on-call and after-hours support as required (24/7 operations). - Proficiency in standard PC software, including MS Windows and Office applications, web-based systems, email, and relational database query tools. - Exceptional oral and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels and diverse backgrounds. - Experience in delivering responsive and effective customer service. - Proven capability to prioritize and organize tasks, managing multiple concurrent responsibilities.
