(RSI) is a dedicated nonprofit organization focused on delivering exceptional care and support to adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) within the Orange County community. Our mission is to empower individuals to achieve their highest potential through compassionate and quality services.
Role Summary:
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) intern, you will be integral in offering care and assistance to adults with IDD in a residential setting. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the safety, comfort, and overall well-being of residents during the afternoon and evening hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with daily living tasks, including personal hygiene, grooming, and medication management.
- Monitor residents for any medical or behavioral changes, responding appropriately according to established guidelines.
- Foster a supportive and engaging environment, encouraging social interactions and participation in recreational activities.
- Accurately document observations and interventions in resident records to maintain comprehensive care.
- Work collaboratively with team members, including healthcare professionals and family members, to provide coordinated care.
- Ensure a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping and conducting regular safety checks.
This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience in fields such as Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, and Occupational Therapy. Comprehensive training will be provided.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A strong desire to learn and grow in the field.
- Valid Driver's License.
Internship Details:
- This position may qualify for college credit if it aligns with your academic requirements.
- A minimum commitment of three months is expected.
