Job Overview

Microbial Discovery Group is seeking a seasoned Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of engineering projects. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality products and solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, encouraging continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Identify and address skill gaps within the team and develop training programs to enhance team capabilities.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of engineering projects, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline requirements.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including product management, quality assurance, and operations, to align project goals and deliverables.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Provide technical direction and expertise to the engineering team, ensuring the application of best practices and industry standards.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and technologies.
  • Review and approve technical documentation, designs, and specifications.
  • Allocate resources effectively to meet project demands and organizational goals.
  • Manage engineering budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective solutions.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, software, and equipment needed for engineering projects.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for engineering-related matters, communicating project status, challenges, and solutions to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment on project objectives and deliverables.
  • Prepare and present reports, proposals, and technical documents to stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of successfully leading engineering projects from conception to completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in AutoCad or other engineering software and tools.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field). A Master's, PhD, or MBA degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in engineering roles with at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership position.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
  • Majority of work is conducted in a fermentation production facility and includes frequent exposure to wet, humid, dusty, and noisy conditions.
  • Work includes lifting (up to 50 lbs.), standing, walking, as well as occasional scooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • May be exposed to airborne particles and chemicals used in fermentation production facilities.
Safety Requirements
  • Mandated use of company-issued uniform and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Adherence to all company safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
