Job Description

At Riken Elastomers, we are seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Coordinator to join our team. This role is responsible for providing administrative support to the Human Resources Director, including record-keeping, file maintenance, and HRIS entry.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. They will be responsible for recruiting, interviewing, and facilitating the hiring of qualified job applicants, as well as creating and updating job descriptions and identifying job competencies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Complying with all environmental, health, safety, and quality standards.
  • Initiating or suggesting ideas and supporting continuous improvement efforts.
  • Running payroll, payroll reporting, and maintaining HRIS and systems of pay.
  • Reviewing, tracking, and documenting compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
  • Recruiting, interviewing, and facilitating the hiring of qualified job applicants.
  • Creating and updating job descriptions and identifying job competencies.
  • Managing the criteria for hiring, retaining, and promoting based on job descriptions and required competencies.
  • Conducting or acquiring background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Conducting new hire orientation and performing routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs.
  • Handling employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors.
  • Attending and participating in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintaining knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Administering health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Performing customer service functions and reconciling benefits statements.
  • Processing terminations and tracking.
  • Performing stay and exit interviews and employee surveys for retention efforts.
  • Creating and updating job descriptions as needed.
  • Developing and implementing employee training programs to increase individual and organizational effectiveness.
  • Managing hourly performance appraisal process to increase individual and organizational effectiveness.
  • Managing outsourced compensation and benefits components.
  • Assisting with updating policies, procedures, and handbooks.
  • Scheduling meetings and interviews as requested by the director of HR.
  • Making photocopies, mailing, scanning, and emailing documents, and performing other clerical functions.
  • Filing documents into appropriate employee files.
  • Assisting or preparing correspondence as requested.
  • Establishing relationships and alliances with key individuals and outside organizations to assist in achieving the organization's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Reinforcing the organization's core values and behavioral expectations through modeling, communication, and coaching.
  • Managing the administration of return-to-work processes and after illness or injury to ensure a safe workplace.

Required skills and abilities include:

  • Working understanding of human resource principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Qualifications include:

  • Associate's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At least three years' related experience required.
  • SHRM-CP credential preferred.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
