Position Overview

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Role Summary:

The Secondary Mathematics Educator will report directly to the Building Principal and is responsible for delivering high-quality math instruction to high school students.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related discipline (Master's degree is preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification in Mathematics or a relevant subject area.
  • In-depth knowledge of mathematical concepts and curriculum standards.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to effectively manage a classroom and engage students actively.
  • Dedication to teaching and a commitment to fostering student success.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in addressing student needs and challenges.
  • Prior teaching experience is advantageous but not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to diverse student needs.
  • Deliver instruction through various methodologies to cater to different learning styles.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes learning.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators to develop curriculum and instructional resources.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness.
  • Stay informed about educational best practices and curriculum standards.
  • Ensure a safe and orderly learning environment for all students.
  • Provide both group and individualized instruction to support student learning.
  • Supervise and guide instructional assistants, volunteers, and substitutes.
  • Set and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
  • Utilize diverse instructional techniques and technology to enhance learning.
  • Regularly assess students' instructional needs and seek support when necessary.
  • Administer standardized assessments and maintain classroom safety and equipment.
  • Participate in meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Uphold policies regarding student conduct and classroom rules fairly.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in subject matter and effective teaching methodologies.
  • Communicate clearly with all stakeholders and pursue professional growth opportunities.
  • Adhere to professional standards, including punctuality, confidentiality, and self-control.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors while staying updated on educational trends.
  • Be available for student and parent inquiries outside of regular hours.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Demonstrate overall good health and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with others.

Employment Terms: 8 hours per day, 10 months (200 days)

Evaluation: Performance will be assessed in accordance with the provisions of the Sussex County School Board's policy manual.
