Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Manager to lead our Labor and Postpartum unit at CommonSpirit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for directing and supervising the nursing staff to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Direct and supervise the nursing staff to ensure high-quality patient care.
    • Develop and implement unit goals and objectives in collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer.
    • Monitor and evaluate the performance of patient care services personnel.
  • Patient Care
    • Assess patient needs and develop individualized plans of care.
    • Implement and direct personnel in the patient's plan of care.
    • Ensure that patient assessment is completed, including patient interview, psychosocial and physical assessment.
  • Quality and Safety
    • Ensure compliance with MHSET policies and procedures and Joint Commission State Regulatory Standards.
    • Identify and report to Performance Improvement and/or Risk Management those issues requiring intensive review and analysis.
  • Operations and Administration
    • Manage the department's financial budget requirements.
    • Ensure administrative actions are completed in a timely and professional manner.
    • Maintain adequate stock of supplies and equipment for the unit.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Associate degree received from an accredited school of nursing.
    • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required within 3 years of employment from an accredited school of nursing.
    • At least 3 years of clinical and/or management experience in an acute care setting.
  • Licensure and Certifications
    • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Texas.
    • BLS certification.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Critical thinking skills.
    • Basic computer skills - familiarity with Windows-based software programs.
