Position Overview
The Food Service Supervisor plays a crucial role in managing the food and beverage service for patrons at various concession stands, bars, and mobile food service areas. The Supervisor will collaborate with management and the OVG leadership team on various projects, including staff training, inventory management, and special events.
Consistent attendance is essential, and availability to work scheduled events is required.
This role offers an hourly wage of $16.00 plus tips.
Benefits for part-time positions include a 401(k) savings plan with matching contributions. Additionally, part-time, seasonal, and internship employees accrue paid leave at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
This position will remain open until filled.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the setup of all food service locations prior to event start, ensuring that inventory is verified, staff duties are assigned, sanitation standards are upheld, and all locations are fully operational.
- Provide expert oversight to ensure smooth, efficient, and profitable event execution.
- Train new and existing staff on operational procedures and best practices.
- Be prepared to cover any open positions to maintain operational standards and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Maintain a safe and respectful work environment, addressing any safety concerns or incidents promptly.
- Ensure that event staff and volunteers understand workplace expectations, providing ongoing training and support to foster a positive and cooperative atmosphere.
- Acquire knowledge of all concession locations, including layout, equipment, and emergency procedures.
- Supervise the service of beverages, including verifying age for alcohol purchases.
- Assist in taking guest orders and communicating them to the kitchen via the point-of-sale system.
- Monitor guest requests and ensure timely service completion.
- Handle payment transactions accurately and provide change as necessary.
- Recommend menu items and explain preparation methods to guests.
- Uphold sanitation and safety standards in all work areas.
- Demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Ensure that all equipment is clean and operational before events.
- Recognize and appropriately manage guests who may be over-served.
- Enforce company policies and procedures consistently.
- Utilize strong human resources skills in employee relations, including coaching and corrective actions.
- Assist management with various projects, including training and inventory management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience in a food and beverage setting.
- Ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
- Strong communication skills with employees, management, and guests.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
- Ability to thrive in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
- Possession of a valid food handling certificate or alcohol service permit as required.
- Accurate cash handling skills.
- Basic math skills for cash transactions and inventory management.
