Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Pre-Fabricator to join our team at Everglades Boats. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the early stages of boat construction, preparing and assembling parts and components in accordance with design specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cut, shape, and prepare boat parts such as hull sections, bulkheads, and panels using materials like fiberglass, wood, aluminum, or composite materials.
  • Assemble prefabricated components such as frames, decks, and structural supports, ensuring they meet design specifications and tolerances.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and plans to determine the dimensions and assembly methods for prefabricated components.
  • Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and equipment such as saws, sanders, drills, and laminating tools in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Select and prepare materials based on the project requirements, ensuring quality and accuracy in measurements.
  • Inspect prefabricated parts for defects or inaccuracies, ensuring they meet the facility's high-quality standards before moving on to the next stage of production.
  • Work closely with other departments such as design, production, and assembly to ensure smooth workflow and resolve any discrepancies in fabrication.
  • Follow all safety procedures and protocols, maintaining a clean and organized work environment to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of production processes, material usage, and assembly tasks for reporting and continuous improvement efforts.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a pre-fabrication or boat building role, with experience working with fiberglass, composite, and metal materials.
  • Strong knowledge of boat construction techniques and materials.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and CAD designs.
  • Hands-on experience with woodworking, metalworking, and fiberglass fabrication.
  • Familiarity with a range of hand and power tools, including precision measuring tools.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Knowledge of CNC machinery and automated fabrication tools.
  • Experience in marine or shipbuilding industries.
  • Basic welding or carpentry skills.
Work Environment

The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Requirements
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements include eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, protective suits, dust masks, and respirators.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Employees must be able to work a 10-hour shift or more in one work day, including planned and unplanned overtime.
  • Exhibits ability to work cautiously but efficiently in potentially hazardous conditions.
