Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Pipe Layer to join our team at S.T. Wooten Corporation. As a Pipe Layer, you will be responsible for performing general construction tasks involving physical labor on commercial, highway, and heavy construction projects.


Key Responsibilities
  1. Operate concrete saws and other power tools as required.
  2. Position, align, and join pieces of pipe, as well as setting drainage structures.
  3. Install sewer, water, and storm drain pipes, using excavators and laser guidance equipment.
  4. Signal equipment operators to align, move, and adjust equipment and materials when necessary.
  5. Lubricate, clean, and repair tools as required by standards provided.
  6. Clean and prepare work areas to eliminate potential hazards.
  7. Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones (if certified to do so).
  8. Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes.
  9. Load and unload construction materials, machinery, and tools.
  10. Perform necessary work while complying with all company policies and procedures.
  11. Cutting of concrete pipe, boxes, ductile iron, and PVC.
  12. Perform additional duties as required or directed by their immediate supervisor or other manager.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
  • To be at least 21 years old.
  • 2-5 years of experience as a pipe layer.
  • To be able to set laser for pipe laying.
  • Basic masonry skills required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and have a good work ethic.

Working Conditions

This position requires heavy physical effort, including pulling and lifting or moving heavy weight materials with frequent lifting or moving materials or equipment (over 80 pounds). You will also be working in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold, oil, and heavy equipment.
