Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Air Force Reserve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) in the Aircraft Pneudraulic Systems Mechanic position. As an ART, you will be part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, you will be required to maintain your active membership in the AF Reserve unit where assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify aircraft fuel distribution systems.
  • Repair leaks of external/integrated tanks.
  • Provide training to reservists in the accomplishment of tasks set forth therein.
Requirements

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8200 FLUID SYSTEMS MAINTENANCE FAMILY. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualifications
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret a variety of technical data.
  • Skill in the use of standard hand and power tools of the trade.
  • Ability to use a variety of test and measurement equipment.
  • Ability to test complete pneudraulic systems.
  • Ability to install aircraft pneudraulic systems, equipment, or accessories.
  • Ability to clean work area and/or job site upon completion of work.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of operation, capabilities, and limitations of aircraft pneudraulic systems.
  • Ability to test complete pneudraulic systems.
  • Ability to calibrate aircraft pneudraulic equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot aircraft pneudraulic equipment of moderate complexity.
  • Knowledge of safety and security requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations, and technical orders.
  • Knowledge of tool, equipment, and materials accounting and security.
  • Knowledge of USAF Technical Order Program and its procedures.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a variety of environments, including outside and inside, with exposure to excessive heat, cold, humidity, and noise. You must be able to lift, carry, and move heavy objects, and work at heights and in confined spaces.

What to Expect

As an Air Reserve Technician, you will be required to participate in unit training assemblies (UTA) and may be required to work overtime, rotating shifts, and uncommon tours. You will also be required to maintain your active membership in the AF Reserve unit where assigned.
