This position is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients of the Great Plains Tribal Leaders' Health Board (GPTLHB).
Key Responsibilities- Provide diagnostic, preventative, and therapeutic medical care to patients.
- Interview and examine patients, review medical history, and perform diagnostic tests as necessary.
- Prescribe and administer medical treatment, therapy, medication, and other specialized medical care.
- Order, perform, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests, records, and examination information to identify and assess patient health needs.
- Collect, record, and maintain patient information, including medical history, reports, and examination results.
- Monitor patients' conditions and progress, and reevaluate treatments as necessary.
- Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients.
- Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary.
- Provide total patient care, including prevention, health maintenance, early diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up services.
- Must have a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited medical school and successful completion of postgraduate training and an approved residency program.
- Must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of South Dakota, or ability to obtain full or temporary license prior to start date.
- Must obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required or must be obtained within ninety (90) days of employment.
- Must successfully pass a criminal and background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
The work is typically performed standing or sitting in a clinic setting, requiring normal safety precautions for infection control and environmental safety measures.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and sit, talk, and hear.
The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move light objects, and occasional lift heavier objects.
