Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to oversee and execute testing of electrical components and systems for locomotive and off-highway vehicles. Experience with high voltage testing and control systems is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshooting: Assist in the investigation and resolution of reliability issues in drive control systems. Collaborate with design engineers to implement corrective measures and diagnose problems with electronic circuits and test setups.
  • Data Analysis: Gather and interpret test data utilizing MATLAB and Excel. Identify patterns and produce comprehensive test reports, offering design improvement suggestions based on findings.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside lead and senior engineers to evaluate concepts and develop detailed designs for controllers.
  • Test Planning: Create test plans and associated components (layouts, stands, fixtures, etc.) to support power electronic validation and field failure analysis.
  • Test Execution: Perform functional, environmental, and reliability assessments of power electronic components and systems using various testing instruments (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, probes, sensors).
  • Documentation: Ensure meticulous documentation of all testing procedures, manuals, results, and modifications throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously enhance testing methodologies and processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability of results.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with multiple KW Transformers, Large Scale Capacitors, Bus Bars, Contactors, Relays, Circuit Breakers, and practical applications of switching theory.
  • Familiarity with Data Acquisition Systems, Sensors, and Electronic Measurement Equipment (Oscilloscopes, Voltage/Current probes, DMMs).
  • Understanding of control logic functions and their interactions with major electrical components.
  • Previous design experience with primary electrical systems and power magnetic components.
  • Capability to design engineering experiments and conduct testing to develop effective solutions for electrically powered components.
  • Willingness to engage in hands-on work in testing laboratories and with high-power systems.
  • Experience or training in MATLAB and/or C/C++ software development.
  • Knowledge of electric machines (AC & DC motors, alternators, transformers) and power electronics (SCR, GTO, IGBT).
  • Functional understanding of gate drivers.
Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Engineering with 1 to 3 years of relevant experience.
