Key Responsibilities- Preventive Care: Provide routine prophylaxis, including full mouth scaling, polish, and topical fluoride as needed, to adult and pediatric patients.
- Periodontal Services: Provide periodontal services as treatment planned by the dental provider, including scaling, root planing, and delivery of chemotherapeutic agents.
- Patient Education: Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including plaque control, fluoride use, and dietary counseling.
- Charting and Documentation: Maintain accurate and legible records, including periodontal charting and patient medical history.
- Team Collaboration: Work effectively with dental team members to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Education: Associate degree or higher from an accredited dental hygiene program.
- Licensure: Active license to practice dental hygiene issued by the Oregon Board of Dentistry.
- Certifications: Current BLS/CPR/AED certification for healthcare providers and Expanded Practice Permit or ability to acquire within 90 days of hire.
- Nitrous Oxide Permit: Preferred, but not required.
- Restorative Functions Endorsement: Preferred, but not required.
The Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center is a well-lighted, ventilated environment with potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous chemicals. Staff members must meet immunization requirements as stated in VGMHC's immunization policy and state and federal guidelines.
