About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Dialysis Care Specialist to join our team at Centers Dialysis Care. As a Dialysis Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients undergoing dialysis treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation and Setup: Prepare dialysis machines, prime extracorporeal circuits, and perform pre-dialysis tasks, including obtaining vital signs, pre-dialysis weights, and calculating fluid removal based on estimated dry weight.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor patients' vital signs and weights, reporting any abnormalities to the charge nurse. Initiate, monitor, and terminate hemodialysis procedures as per unit protocol.
  • Patient Care: Provide intradialytic monitoring of patients with permcaths, document admission, intradialytic monitoring, and post-dialysis observations on flow sheets. Administer bolus of normal saline in response to hypotension or cramps and inform the charge nurse.
  • Technical Skills: Perform venipunctures to obtain access for dialysis via AVG/AVF and for blood samples. Understand and operate the centrifuge machine, prepare blood samples for transportation to the laboratory, and troubleshoot individual dialysis machines.
  • Quality and Safety: Check the conductivity, temperature, and pH of the dialysate, check for residual Sodium Hypochlorite, and monitor the water system as per established guidelines and parameters. Document on log sheets and report any deviations to the Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager, and Chief Technician.
  • Compliance and Infection Control: Ensure the enforcement of all policies and procedures, including patient's bill of rights. Properly handle and store bio-hazardous waste and chemicals. Have knowledge of emergency procedures and be able to function in an emergency situation under the direction of the person in charge.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited High School or a Graduate Equivalence Diploma; Hemodialysis Certification. CPR-BLS Certification.
