Job Overview:

As a vital member of our operations at Day & Zimmerman, the Rigging Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of materials and equipment. This position requires a strong understanding of rigging techniques and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the rigging, loading, unloading, and transportation of materials and equipment.
  • Utilize rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to effectively move and support various materials.
  • Conduct safety tests on rigging setups to guarantee reliability and security.
  • Splice and assemble wire and rope cables to create slings and tackle devices.
  • Construct and install rigging devices, including cranes and winches, as needed.
  • Attach grappling devices to cranes and winches for secure cargo handling.
  • Direct the movement of cargo using guide ropes to ensure precision.
  • Safely maneuver heavy equipment through tight spaces and confined areas.
  • Interpret and follow detailed procedures and rigging instructions.
  • Select appropriate gear based on load specifications, facility requirements, and project timelines.
  • Assemble and install supporting structures and rigging equipment using both hand and power tools.
  • Fabricate and repair rigging components, such as slings and tackle, as necessary.
  • Securely attach pulleys and blocks to overhead structures using bolts and clamps.
  • Prepare rigging loads for movement, ensuring proper attachment and safety.
  • Provide clear signals and verbal instructions to team members during hoisting operations.
  • Maintain, dismantle, and store rigging equipment in accordance with safety standards.
  • Align, level, and anchor machinery to ensure operational stability.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in rigging operations.
  • Valid NCCER Certification with a copy of the certification card.
  • Nuclear experience is not a prerequisite.
  • Must successfully pass a nuclear background check.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
