Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team at Dartmouth Health. As a key member of our eye care clinic, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our physicians and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with patient flow and navigation through the clinic, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for our patients.
  • Perform comprehensive intake examinations, including collection and documentation of patient health and eye history, visual acuity testing, and administration of pharmacologic agents.
  • Prepare patients, rooms, supplies, and equipment for exams and procedures, maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Inventory, clean, and maintain ophthalmic supplies, equipment, and exam rooms, adhering to established standards and procedures.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of policies and procedures for technical and clinical activities, ensuring compliance with national, local, and institutional regulations.
  • Assist fellow staff and physicians with daily tasks, providing support and collaboration as needed.
  • Maintain current certification status and participate in ongoing training and education to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current International Joint Commission of Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (iJCAHPO) certification as Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) required.
  • Basic Life Support certification required within 60 days.
