Outpatient Chemotherapy Infusion Registered Nurse

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain adherence to established Nursing Standards of Practice, which includes thorough assessment, strategic planning, effective implementation, and comprehensive evaluation. Ensure practices align with unit-based protocols. Administer medications and IV solutions in accordance with hospital policies, consulting relevant resources as necessary.
- Evaluate the educational needs of patients and their families, developing and delivering tailored instruction. Document the effectiveness of educational efforts.
- Engage in unit-based initiatives and participate in hospital committees. Attend continuing education programs for professional development, maintain an updated educational record, and be active in professional organizations.
- Facilitate patient care by delegating responsibilities to team members, fostering a therapeutic environment. Assume the role of charge RN when required, demonstrating independent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, along with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and ensure compliance with all responsibilities related to the position.
Required: Current RN license in New York. BSN is preferred. Experience in Medical-Surgical Nursing, Oncology, and IV Therapy is advantageous. Certification in Oncology Chemotherapy and Biological Therapy must be obtained within 90 days of employment. Basic Life Support Certification is mandatory.
Desired: Proficient IV insertion skills and a solid understanding of chemotherapeutic agents. Familiarity with advanced clinical techniques related to central venous catheter devices is preferred. Knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) processes and ICD-9 coding is beneficial. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently within a collaborative team environment are essential.
