Health and Safety Specialist

Ferguson is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Officer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct thorough accident investigations and review incident reports to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Perform regular site safety audits to identify potential hazards and assess risks.
- Meet with safety contacts at construction projects and insurance companies to ensure compliance and best practices.
- Develop and implement Task-Specific Safe Work Plans and Job Hazard Analyses.
- Issue and maintain executed Toolbox Talks and ensure adherence to all required OSHA standards and safety protocols.
- Stay up-to-date with new safety trends and communicate with upper management for necessary changes or purchases.
- Review and update safety data sheets (SDS) for hazardous chemicals.
- Implement and manage a safety incentive program to promote safe work practices.
- Investigate near-miss incidents and implement preventive measures.
- Participate in industry-specific safety committees or organizations.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety drills and exercises to test emergency preparedness.
- Coordinate with external agencies for emergency response coordination.
- Conduct safety orientation for new employees and subcontractors.
- Ensure proper record-keeping and documentation of safety-related activities.
- OSHA 30 certification (within 5 years old)
- CPR certification
- Reasonable suspicion training
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Independent, reliable, and dependable
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Willingness to learn and participate in company-wide systems for project tracking and communication
- Relevant certifications and training in occupational health and safety with ability to conduct training and provide certifications
