About the Job

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Healthcare Support Specialist to join our team at Akumin. As a Healthcare Support Specialist, you will provide administrative support to our healthcare team, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care and experience during their visit to our facility.

Job Description

The Healthcare Support Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of administrative tasks, including registering patients, collecting monies, and verifying insurance coverage. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate patient records, scheduling appointments, and preparing medical records for physicians, patients, and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Register patients in various systems.
  • Collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.
  • Perform preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures, including medical history.
  • Transport patients to/from exam room.
  • Assist in patient transfer on/off exam table.
  • Provide patients with preliminary and post-procedure instructions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Order supplies and ensure work area is properly stocked.
  • Ensure accuracy of patient records.
  • Schedule patient appointments and obtain insurance verification and/or authorization.
  • Prepare medical records for physicians, patients, and customers.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of patient visits in various electronic systems and on written documents.
  • Assist clinical staff with documentation and image delivery to patient, physician, or contracted customer.
  • Perform all duties within HIPAA regulations.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire for Mobile Radiology and Oncology.
  • CPR Certification is a plus for Fixed Radiology.
  • Valid state driver's license required.
  • Ability to work at several locations required.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
Salary Information

The estimated salary for this role is between $50,000 and $70,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
