Position Overview:

The Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant delivers direct rehabilitative care in physical therapy to patients following physician recommendations, under the guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT), adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational standards.

Qualifications and Licensure:
  • Graduate from an accredited physical therapy program (ASPT)
  • Must hold a current registration/license in the applicable state, maintaining an active license in good standing throughout employment.
  • Preferred: One (1) year of experience in a post-acute care or similar environment
  • CPR certification required upon hire or to be obtained during orientation, with ongoing maintenance of certification.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage in community health initiatives as appropriate
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and support departments to effectively address patient needs
  • Maintain proper body mechanics consistently
  • Make independent decisions when necessary
  • Familiar with practices, procedures, and regulations governing operations in post-acute care settings
  • Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, policies, and procedures
  • Exhibit proficiency in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
  • Foster professional relationships with colleagues, vendors, and others
  • Uphold confidentiality of all proprietary and confidential information
  • Adhere to company policies, including those related to harassment and compliance
  • Demonstrate integrity and professionalism by following the organization's Code of Conduct and completing required compliance training
Essential Duties:
  • Adhere to physical therapy treatment plans under the supervision of the PT
  • Document care accurately and in a timely manner
  • Utilize therapy software effectively and accurately
  • Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a positive demeanor towards patients
  • Assist in patient evacuation when necessary
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance
  • Apply reasoning skills and sound judgment in daily tasks
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Engage in physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, walking, and reaching during work hours
  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language
