Line Cook

As a Line Cook at Gjelina Group, you will play a crucial role in the daily preparation and execution of food items on the line, stations, or other areas of the kitchen with established recipes and techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up your stations according to guidelines and prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner.
- Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as directed by a supervisor and restock all items as needed throughout your shift.
- Clean and maintain your station while practicing good safety, sanitation, and organizational skills.
- Assist with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.
Requirements:
- Flexible schedule
- Basic math skills and ability to follow recipes.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Understanding of professional cooking and knife-handling skills
- Ability to take direction.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
- Must have problem-solving skills, be self-motivated, and be organized.
- Previous prep and/or line cook experience.
Working Environment:
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time (8-12 hours)
- Ability to move, pull, push, carry, or lift up to 40 lbs. on occasion and 30 lbs. regularly.
- Ability to seize, grasp, turn, and hold objects with hand regularly and in frequent or repetitive motion.
- Ability to reach items at varying heights.
- Occasionally, kneel, bend, crouch, and climb as required.
Additional Requirements:
- NY Food Handler Certification
- NY Sexual Harassment Prevention Training
- Must understand how to abide by the rules of the Department of Health related to Food Service.
