Position Overview:

As a PET/CT Imaging Specialist at RAYUS Radiology, you will be responsible for executing all Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography (PET/CT) procedures in accordance with established protocols to ensure high-quality patient care. You will be encouraged to enhance your knowledge and skills in the field as advancements occur. This is a part-time role, requiring 10 hours of work per week.

Key Responsibilities:

(75%) Patient Imaging Duties:

  • Conducts routine and advanced PET/CT procedures on specific body areas for diagnostic purposes with minimal supervision.
  • Evaluates patients prior to procedures for any necessary precautions or contraindications.
  • Communicates with patients to explain the PET/CT procedures, ensuring they are positioned correctly and supported throughout the process.
  • Adjusts scanning parameters as needed, applying dose reduction techniques appropriately.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with radiologists, referring physicians, and colleagues.
  • Assesses, prepares, and administers radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission and departmental policies.
  • Administers fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) intravenously to patients.
  • Exhibits knowledge of safety protocols to ensure a secure work environment, integral to quality patient care.
  • Reports any contamination incidents to the Radiation Safety Officer.
  • Maintains accurate patient records within the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Ensures compliance with ACR toolkit and accreditation standards.

(20%) Imaging Support Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine maintenance on PET/CT scanners and mobile units.
  • Conducts and documents daily quality control checks on specified equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Completes daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly quality control procedures on PET/CT equipment to adhere to ACR and AOA guidelines.
  • Troubleshoots equipment issues when possible and escalates problems to the supervisor.
  • Conducts departmental surveys to ensure compliance with radiation safety standards as per Nuclear Regulatory Commission and state regulations.

(5%) Additional Duties:

Performs other responsibilities as assigned to support the department's operations.
