Position Overview:

As a PET/CT Imaging Specialist, you will be responsible for executing all Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography (PET/CT) examinations in accordance with established protocols to ensure high-quality patient care. Your commitment to continuous learning will enhance your expertise in the field, keeping you updated on evolving procedures and technologies. This is a part-time role, requiring 10 hours of work per week.

Incentives:

$2,500 SIGN ON BONUS

Key Responsibilities:

(75%) Patient Imaging Duties:

  • Conducts routine and advanced PET/CT procedures on designated body areas to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patient conditions with minimal supervision.
  • Evaluates patients prior to procedures to identify any precautions or contraindications.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, explaining the PET/CT procedures, positioning them correctly, and providing support throughout the examination.
  • Adjusts scanning parameters as necessary, employing dose reduction techniques where applicable.
  • Fosters positive relationships with radiologists, referring physicians, and colleagues.
  • Assesses, prepares, and administers radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Administers fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) intravenously to patients.
  • Exhibits knowledge of safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment and uphold quality patient care.
  • Reports any contamination incidents to the Radiation Safety Officer.
  • Maintains accurate patient records within the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Ensures compliance with ACR toolkit and accreditation standards.

(20%) Imaging Support Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine maintenance on PET/CT scanners and mobile imaging units.
  • Conducts and documents daily quality control checks on equipment to guarantee accurate functionality.
  • Implements daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly quality control measures on PET/CT devices to adhere to ACR and AOA guidelines.
  • Troubleshoots equipment issues when feasible and escalates problems to the supervisor.
  • Conducts departmental surveys to ensure compliance with radiation safety standards set by regulatory bodies.

(5%) Additional Duties:

Performs other responsibilities as assigned.
