Job Title: Supported Employment Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Supported Employment Specialist to join our team at Kanza Mental Health. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in human services and a passion for helping individuals with disabilities achieve their employment goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with employers, community organizations, and government agencies to identify job opportunities and provide employment services to clients.
  • Conduct job development and job search activities with clients, including resume building, interview preparation, and job placement.
  • Provide individualized follow-along support to clients in their employment settings, including coaching, mentoring, and problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with mental health treatment teams to ensure seamless service delivery and coordination.
  • Collect and report program data, including employment outcomes and client satisfaction.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on best practices and program requirements.

Requirements:

  • BS or BA degree in Human Services Field or 4 years of education/experience in the human services field.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Successfully pass all background checks.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Excellent organizational skills and working knowledge of social service agencies and community services.
  • General knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office programs.

Working Conditions:

  • Main worksite for this position will be the Hiawatha Community Services Building – however travel to outreach offices is required.
  • Will conduct sessions in the home and community settings.
  • Risk of exposure to aggressive or acting out behaviors (verbal and/or physical).

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This is not a supervisory position.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to focus on computer screens for extended periods of time.
  • Ambulatory capabilities to work with client in the home and community settings.

Work Environment:
