Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Dentist to join our team at First Choice Community Healthcare INC. This is a part-time position that will provide general dentistry services to patients in our community health centers.

First Choice Community Healthcare INC has been providing access to high-quality healthcare services to the underserved populations of central New Mexico for over 50 years. We operate seven community health centers and one school-based clinic, offering a wide range of medical, dental, and behavioral healthcare services.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $120,000 - $150,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Job Description

The Dentist will work under the general direction of the Dental Director and the administrative direction of the Health Center Manager. The primary responsibilities include:

  • Providing general dentistry services to patients based on federal standards;
  • Conducting laboratory procedures as required;
  • Working with other Dentists to assure effective delivery of quality services;
  • Determining treatment plans within the medical, dental, and financial needs of patients;
  • Treating emergency walk-in patients;
  • Diagnosing and treating dental disease in adults and/or children;
  • Consulting with other Dentists in the FCCH system on the delivery of quality dental care;
  • Participating in setting dental and nursing standards and protocols;
  • Assisting dental assistants and dental hygienists with patient triage;
  • Charting patient encounters and referring patients for further diagnosis and treatment;
  • Supervising dental students learning dental practices;
  • Providing educational materials to patients upon discharge from care;
  • Participating in continuing education and training for dental assistants and dental hygienists.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of dentistry with a D.D.S.;
  • Two to four years of dental practice experience with underserved populations preferred;
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

Licenses/Certifications Required

  • NM State license to practice dentistry and national dental board exam certification;
  • DEA License;
  • New Mexico Board of Pharmacy License;
  • CPR certified.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of dental care;
  • Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress;
  • Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage;
  • Ability to supervise, advise, and train dental staff and/or students;
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards;
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment;
  • Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
