Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

Imperial Health is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in Lake Charles, LA.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate LPN to provide high-quality patient care in our cardiology department. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will work closely with our healthcare team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes and ensure a smooth and efficient clinical operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing care for patients following established standards and practices.
  • Participate in the care of the patient, under the direct supervision of the physician and in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Collect patient information and assessment data, obtain and record patient's vital signs, and perform chart review to obtain historical data.
  • Set up ECG monitor to patient and monitor heart rate prior to start of procedure.
  • Start IV for contrast and medication administration.
  • Maintain and use principles of aseptic techniques and infection control when performing clinical duties and tasks.
  • Confirm and clarify written orders prior to implementation of delegated tasks.
  • Observe, record, and report patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physician.
  • Follow policies for infection control in handling and disposing of infectious/hazardous waste materials.
  • Recognize emergency situations and implement emergency procedures according to clinic guidelines.
  • Administer first aid, CPR, and maintain emergency equipment and supplies.
  • Provide appropriate patient-specific education and health information materials.

Requirements:

  • State Practical Nursing license.
  • Previous cardiology nursing experience preferred but not required.
  • Telemetry experience preferred but not required.
  • Previous medical office experience preferred but not required.
  • EMR experience preferred.

Work Environment:

  • Office setting.
  • Frequent telephone calls and other interruptions, which requires being able to handle a fast-paced work environment during entire time at work.
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality and exercise professionalism when interacting with staff, managers, supervisors, physicians, external customers, etc.

Physical/Mental Demands:

  • Requires standing, sitting, frequent walking, bending, and stooping.
  • May require lifting 25-50 pounds.
  • Exposure to possible hazardous materials/conditions and infectious diseases.
