Aquatics Specialist Opportunity

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a highly skilled Aquatics Specialist to lead our aquatic programs at YMCA Camp Seymour.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program Development: Plan, organize, and facilitate aquatic programming for Day Camp, Overnight Camp, and visiting groups.
  • Pool Maintenance: Monitor pool equipment and supplies, and perform repairs and resupply as necessary.
  • Collaboration: Work with the Assistant Camp Director of Programs to ensure the quality of programming, and with leadership staff to coordinate and implement overall camp programs.
  • Evening Programming: Plan, facilitate, and support evening programming, including setup, teardown, supervision, and other duties as assigned.
  • Cabin Counselor: Serve as a cabin counselor when coverage is needed.
Qualifications:
  • A commitment to valuing and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • One season or more of camp experience and lifeguard experience required.
  • Preferred: Experience in teaching swim lessons and/or two years of personal organized swim experience.
  • Positive attitude and previous experience with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge and skills in program activities and related equipment setup, and the ability to instruct participants in age-appropriate techniques.
  • Required: Current YMCA Lifeguard certification or Red Cross Lifeguard certification (or the ability to obtain the YMCA Lifeguard certification during staff training).
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications.
  • Complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day.

This is a residential position that includes room and board. Starting wage: $390 to $460 per week, depending on qualifications.
