Swim Coach

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Swim Coach to join our team. As a Swim Coach, you will be responsible for instructing swimmers of various ages and skill levels in swimming and safety skills, following the YMCA Competitive Swimming guidelines.

• Conduct swimming practices with proper stroke techniques, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
• Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the needs and abilities of swimmers, promoting a natural progression of skills.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on their child's progress and addressing any concerns.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance and skill progression, utilizing the Team Manager software.
• Assist the aquatics program in responding to parent inquiries and providing support as needed.

• Commitment to diversity and inclusion, with a focus on creating a welcoming environment for all participants.
• 1-2 years of experience in a related field, preferably working with youth in a program setting.
• Previous experience in coaching or instructing swimming, with a strong understanding of YMCA standards and guidelines.
• Ability to demonstrate swim instructor skills, with a focus on proper stroke techniques and safety protocols.
• Preferred certifications: YMCA Lifeguard and Principles of Competitive Swimming and Diving.
• Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training and other required training programs.
