Position Overview
As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a crucial role in enhancing patient care by delivering precise radiation treatments under the guidance of a Radiation Oncologist. Your expertise will ensure adherence to established protocols and contribute to the overall mission of Prisma Health.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately interpret and implement prescribed radiation therapy plans, preparing treatment areas and verifying parameters to ensure patient safety and treatment efficacy.
- Maintain meticulous records of simulations and treatment deliveries, including daily charge capture and billing documentation.
- Uphold clinical competencies to support effective treatment delivery and simulation processes.
- Conduct quality assurance (QA) checks on simulation and treatment equipment, reporting any discrepancies to management or physics teams.
- Adhere to all departmental and organizational policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and training requirements.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and uphold radiation safety protocols for patients and staff.
Clinical Duties
- Perform both clinical and CT-based simulations to assist in tumor localization as directed by the Radiation Oncologist.
- Fabricate necessary immobilization and treatment devices to guarantee accurate treatment delivery and prepare contrast agents as needed.
- Participate in on-call duties for clinical emergencies and assist with various departmental tasks as required.
Education and Qualifications
- An Associate's Degree with successful completion of an accredited Radiation Therapy program is required.
- Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy is mandatory, or candidates must be Board Eligible and obtain ARRT certification within one year of employment.
Skills and Attributes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously while exercising sound clinical judgment in radiation application.
- Adaptability to changing environments and priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
Work Schedule
This position operates during daytime hours.
