Diesel Mechanic

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Road Safety. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine and specialized mechanical duties, including troubleshooting, repairing, and preventive maintenance in all fleet vehicles/equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain Accurate Fluid Levels and Tire Pressures: Ensure that all fleet vehicles/equipment are properly maintained to prevent mechanical failures and ensure safe operation.
- Perform Vehicle Diagnostics and Troubleshoot Various Equipment: Use advanced diagnostic tools to identify and repair complex mechanical issues in fleet vehicles/equipment.
- Diagnose Hydraulic Issues, Change, Repair, and Fabricate Hoses: Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, including hoses, pumps, and cylinders.
- Install and Repair Electrical Systems: Install and repair electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, and electrical components.
- Inspect and Repair Hydraulic and Air-Based Braking Systems: Inspect and repair hydraulic and air-based braking systems to ensure safe operation.
- Welding, Cutting, and Fabrication: Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks to repair and maintain fleet vehicles/equipment.
- Periodically Drive to Job Sites for Mobile Repairs: Drive to job sites to perform mobile repairs and maintenance on fleet vehicles/equipment.
- Ensure Timely and Efficient Functions within the Shop: Ensure that all shop functions are performed in a timely and efficient manner to meet business needs.
Qualifications:
- High School Education or Equivalent: A high school education or equivalent is required.
- Valid Driver's License Required, CDL Preferred: A valid driver's license is required, and a CDL is preferred.
- Must be Able to Pass a DOT Physical: Must be able to pass a DOT physical to ensure safe operation of fleet vehicles/equipment.
- Must be Able to Pass a Drug Screen: Must be able to pass a drug screen to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- Experience Using Small Hand Tools and Power Tools: Must have experience using small hand tools and power tools, including screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, hammers, sockets, utility knives, drills, and impact wrenches.
- Must be Able to Regularly Lift and/or Move Up to 10 Pounds, Frequently Lift and/or Move Up to 50 Pounds, and Occasionally Lift and/or Move Up to 100 Pounds: Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Must be Able to Read and Comprehend Various Measuring Devices: Must be able to read and comprehend various measuring devices, including tape measures, measuring devices, and dipsticks.
- Must be Able to Apply Common Sense Understanding to Carry Out Detailed Written or Oral Instructions: Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

- Must be Able to Travel in Company Car to Field Work for Repairs: Must be able to travel in a company car to field work for repairs.
Job Type: Seasonal. Hourly, Full-time, Mon - Sat, hours may vary with the seasonality of the business (6-7 days per week with overtime in the Summer and four 10-hour days per week in the winter). Must be available to work outside of business hours and overtime if needed.
