Job Summary

As a key member of the WM team, the Area Manager Supply Chain will play a critical role in directing and overseeing the purchasing function, developing policies related to the procurement of fleet and operation support goods and services. This individual will receive and grant approval for purchases of goods or services, analyze changes or new issues in materials and supply to reduce costs and improve quality, and manage procurement staff and reports to Corporate Procurement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Supervises and directs all procurement processes and procedures at the Area Level.
  2. Supervises daily activities of Area procurement staff.
  3. Assigns work processes to Area procurement staff.
  4. Leads the implementation of company procurement policies and procedures, programs, and best practices for procurement of fleet and operations supplies, equipment, and repairs.
  5. Responsible for utilization of corporate procurement agreements and preferred suppliers.
  6. Works with Area Managers in analysis and optimization of inventory levels of authority.
  7. Leads the area procurement staff in developing regional or local sources of supply that meet current and future value requirements.
  8. Monitors appropriate spending, authorizes expenditures, and adheres to levels of authority.
  9. May lead more complex or larger spend sourcing efforts.
  10. Provides sourcing process expertise to area procurement staff on preparation and analysis of complex RFX and all other phases of strategic sourcing.
  11. Monitors and leads compliance with all procurement programs and diversity initiatives.
  12. Makes recommendations to Area management for standardization and cost savings.
  13. Assists MA Fleet Manager with reporting and forecasting area spending.
  14. Actively participates in Capital Expenditure procurement utilizing company purchasing system.
  15. Coordinates and facilitates surplus asset/equipment sales.
  16. Participates in budget process.
  17. Manages and maintains Area supplier relationships.
  18. Trains and mentors staff as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities

The highest level of supervisory skills required in this job is the management of supervisory employees.

QualificationsEducation and Experience

Bachelor's Degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four (4) years of relevant work experience.

Experience

Five (5) years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement).

Work Environment

Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the work day.

Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 30 pounds rarely.

Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.) rarely.

Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements rarely.

Normal setting for this job is: office setting.
