We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Per Diem Recovery Technician to join our team at the Eye Bank with Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for retrieving and processing ocular tissue for surgical and research use.
Key Responsibilities- Retrieve tissue from legally consented donors using appropriate procedures.
- Review cases available for corneal removal and determine medical suitability of potential donors.
- Obtain accurate donor medical information and complete all documentation required for donor records.
- Perform specular microscopy on surgical quality corneas to obtain endothelial cell count.
- Process and package blood for serology testing.
- Prepare instrument kits for sterilization and deliver and retrieve in a timely manner.
- Perform and maintain documentation of regular laboratory cleaning schedules.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
