Senior Refrigeration Engineer

Kelvin Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Refrigeration Engineer to join our team. This individual will be responsible for the design and implementation of commercial and industrial refrigeration mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide on-site engineering support for industrial ammonia/central refrigeration and commercial split systems.
  • Design and implement HVAC systems for commercial and industrial applications.
  • Review and approve submittal drawings for vendor-purchased equipment for compliance with design intent and/or contract documents.
  • Assist in producing 2D and 3D CAD/BIM drawings and document sets from sketches, existing drawings, equipment shop drawings, and standard details for refrigeration, HVAC, piping, and controls systems.
  • Play a key role in bid and proposal development working in conjunction with the Sales team.
  • Perform system calculations, including system load calculations, ammonia relief vent systems, and valves, ammonia charge, etc.
  • Develop P&IDs, flow diagrams, equipment schedules, plans, and specifications for refrigeration systems.
  • Write and continuously improve specifications and standards pertaining to refrigeration, including piping, vessels, compressors, evaporators, condensers, valves, instrumentation, corrosion protection, and insulation.
Requirements:
  • BS Degree in a Mechanical Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum requirement of work history in HVAC design, such as plant chillers, AHUs, and construction.
  • Experience with industrial refrigeration (ammonia, DX refrigeration, and trans-critical CO2 systems) preferred.
  • Preferred experience of 7-10 years in designing and engineering industrial refrigeration systems (ammonia system experience highly desired).
  • Current P.E. certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in drafting/design programs, e.g., CAD.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, etc).
  • Ability to create, read, analyze, and interpret construction drawings and P&IDs.
