Job Summary:

Orion Group Holdings is seeking a highly skilled Senior Marine Structural Engineer to join our team in Houston, TX. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing senior-level structural design engineering support for the construction of marine structures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine structural engineering, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the field. The Senior Marine Structural Engineer will work closely with the VP of Engineering and the Engineering and Structural Design team to achieve departmental business goals and objectives. Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide senior-level structural design engineering support for the construction of marine structures.
  • Work closely with the VP of Engineering and the Engineering and Structural Design team to achieve departmental business goals and objectives.
  • Lead the growth and development of the engineering team by providing mentorship, technical guidance, and participation in the hiring and evaluation of junior staff.
  • Interface with engineering and project team members and/or customer/client to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the engineering services being requested.
  • Apply extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assigned engineering projects.
  • Perform structural engineering analysis and design of new and existing marine structures.
  • Perform finite element structural modeling of marine structures.
  • Review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
  • Develop new techniques and/or improved processes for design projects.
  • Provide technical advice on safe designs and construction.
  • Review and approve scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
  • Prepare bid package documents.

Requirements:
  • Master's and/or Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or in Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis.
  • Professional Engineer license in an US State or ability to obtain PE through reciprocity within 6 months of hire.
  • A minimum of 10 years of work experience in marine structural engineering design.
  • Prior work experience in the marine construction, heavy industrial or engineering design industries is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to independently identify work to be done.
  • Flexibility and ability to adjust to sudden changes in work priorities.
  • Ability to prioritize work and accommodate changes as needed.
  • Attention to detail and extreme care in performing tasks accurately and carefully.
