Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team at Christus Health. As a key member of the surgical team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of a professional nurse, you will assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients, maintaining aseptic techniques, and transporting patients to and from the Operating Room suite.
  • You will be responsible for setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to the type of case, and identifying and caring for biological specimens.
  • As a member of the surgical team, you will work effectively to care for patients, cooperate in team planning and execution, and maintain a safe environment by implementing technical and aseptic practices.
  • You will also be responsible for ensuring that preference cards are kept up to date and as complete as possible, and demonstrating clinical expertise in the use and care of all surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Additionally, you will adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions for both patient and own safety in all patient care situations, and demonstrate competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the population-specific and developmental needs of patients served by the department.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Completion of the Surgical Technology program is required
  • 2 or more years of experience preferred
  • BLS required
  • Certification of Surgical Technologist from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting within 180 days of graduation or LVN/LPN License required
