Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team at CHRISTUS Health. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for preparing and caring for pre-operative patients, maintaining aseptic techniques, and providing comfort and support to patients undergoing surgery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients, including preparing patient skin for surgery and maintaining aseptic techniques.
  • Provide comfort and support to patients undergoing surgery, demonstrating sensitivity to patient care and privacy.
  • Transport patients to and from the Operating Room suite, positioning patients according to the type of surgery.
  • Identify and care for biological specimens, and prepare the Operating Room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to the type of case.
  • Work effectively as a member of the team caring for the patient, cooperating in team planning and execution, and maintaining a safe environment by implementing technical and aseptic practices.
  • Adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions for both patient and own safety in all patient care situations, and demonstrate clinical expertise in the use and care of all surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Familiar with facility policy and procedure regarding decontamination, processing, and sterilization of all instruments and supplies that are processed within the facility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of the Surgical Technology program or an accredited LVN/LPN program required.
  • 2 or more years of experience preferred.
  • BLS required.
  • Certification of Surgical Technologist from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting within 180 days of graduation or LVN/LPN License required.
