About the Role

The Senior Tax Analyst is a critical member of the AFL Tax Department, reporting directly to the Tax Manager. This role involves all aspects of US federal, state, and local income tax taxation, including preparing, reviewing, and reconciling domestic tax packages, reviewing assigned domestic returns, and supporting income tax audits and property tax.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and distribute tax packages to gather information from US business units for federal and state income tax returns.
  • Review fixed asset additions monthly to ensure proper tax depreciation method and life.
  • Prepare tax fixed asset roll-forwards and provide support for tax-sensitive transactions, reconciling to GAAP fixed asset roll-forwards and trial balances.
  • Coordinate property tax reporting with third-party providers, establish timelines, and ensure timely deliverables.
  • Track property tax filings, assessments, and payments, reviewing assessments for reasonableness.
  • Support quarterly and year-end financial audit and reporting activities.
  • Track income tax payments and reconcile income tax accounts monthly.
  • Research tax issues and respond to tax notices.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA or MST preferred.
  • Five or more years of tax experience with federal and state income tax reporting and property tax.
  • Property tax, SC FILOT, and related incentives experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and pivot tables.
