Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Engineer to join our team at Flatiron Construction Corp. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring that construction projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet with project crews daily to review production schedules and confirm availability of materials, equipment, and resources.
  • Collect, coordinate, and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements, and project data to ensure quality and contract specification compliance.
  • Provide technical input for project work plans and scheduling, identifying potential risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule, and budget projections to track project performance and make adjustments as needed.
  • Document daily activities using approved methods and technologies.
  • Notify team members and management of significant schedule changes and recommend solutions.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by management.
  • Remit accurate project quantity input and controls using assigned project cost coding to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Manage cost coding with finance and accounting teams regarding employee time, materials, equipment, and subcontractor needs.
  • Review and approve daily timecards for construction crews and resolve inquiries as needed.
  • Review project specifications for quality assurance at the beginning, during, and end of the project.
  • Initiate and manage certificates, inspections, and other documentation regarding construction production on the project site.
  • Work with construction crews and engineering leaders to plan field layout, ensuring utility and commercial lines are marked before production begins.
  • Initiate and manage permits needed before work can begin.
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Attend weekly safety meetings with field teams and project leadership, presenting field analysis as needed.
  • Assist the estimating team with project schedules and provide technical input as needed.
  • Assist in the development of design drawings and provide technical input as needed.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedules, and crews as needed.
  • Reconcile job close-out checklists with owner representatives and field crews at the end of the project.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 1+ years of construction engineering experience.
  • Beginner knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, drawing, specifications, building materials, and required standards.
  • Ability to assume responsibility, interface, and communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication.
  • Proven self-starter and self-motivated to learn and grow knowledge.
  • Knowledge of construction scheduling and production time management.
  • Construction engineering experience or knowledge.
